These things measure all over the place , I genuinely believe that's why some people have issues.

I agree. If you check the oil in the same place and in the same way every time it will be consistent.

Then take it to full operating temp to give it its only hot check during the life of this oil change. 1 dot down full hot. After that I only do cold checks. Once a week if I’m staying in the local area. Every morning if I’m on a trip. I’ve always checked my oil this way.
