I am such an idiot. I over tightened the bolt that holds the fairing on behind the turn signal bracket. How do I get the remaining bolt out of the hole? Any ideas. I suppose if I can get it out, I should be able to get a replacement double sided bolt from the parts department?
Well I screwed it up even more. I had, what turned out to be a cheap, screw extractor. I broke the tip off in the hole I drilled. My drill bits won't chew threw the head of that extractor tip. Wondering if I just need to get a harder steel drill bit and a left hand drill bit. I found the part number I need so hope they stock them 10900005.
drag, maybe get something like this soaked in there before you go at it again..don't know if it will help or not but just might make it easier coming out..good luck
You won’t hand drill a broken easy out, don’t waste your time& money trying. Dermal tool, a carbide burr bit and a steady hand you bore straight in then use a real extractor .
I am trying to figure out your year and model while also trying to figure out picture.
Is picture of hole with broken drill bit inside or just broken bolt?
By later looking at part number supplied it looks like a double threaded bolt broke.
Do you have access to opposite side? Maybe there is thread exposed on opposite side.
Caution with some sprays as over spray might damage paint.
While pictures are good sometimes a picture from further back in order to understand area and then a closer one helps to better grasp problem.

its the double sided stud that is under the front turn signal bracket. 2019 street glide special. Side of the fork area.

first... undo and tilt the fairing out of the way..... if it will not turn by using a screwdriver and a hammer and taping it out ,turning it,,, then do as stated and carbide through the broken easy out.... also a little heat will help it there is any loc tite on it
When you get it removed, your new double stud, along with the acorn nut both have torque values of 120-180 in-lbs. The FSM makes no mention of applying Loctite when installing either. Good luck.
