The Wood Alpha lifters instructions spec 0.120 to 0.140" push rod extension.
The Fuel Moto EZ pushrods instructions spec 4 turns for Wood lifters. These pushrods are 24tpi or 0.042"per 1 turn. So 4 turns X .042" = 0.168". Is 0.168 getting too close to the max lifter travel which is ~0.200"?
no, not too close. Keep in mind when cold, at that setting, you have .040 of travel, as the engine warms and expands, that .160 reduces down quite a bit, as the engine grows taller. Most engines will grow upwards of .100 when at operating temp. On a hot day, some even more. Hence why you see those that adjust deep usually dont have lifter noise issues, and also why FM adjusts them deeper.
Replace everything in the cam chest. OIL PUMP, cam plate, cam bearings, seals, lifters and push rods. I'm pretty sure I had less than $400 in all the parts. No noise after that.
