I would have to say hat it is probably OK. It's a little more miles than you would like but at the same time I don't think there will be gross amount of contamination in your relatively fresh oil. Just pump up the tires, a squirt of oil in each spark plug hole, fuel stabilizer, tend the battery, and wash it like you've never washed her before. Then throw a bedsheet over her. Have a beer, peek under the bedsheet a time or two and shut off the light.
Question bout the oil in sparky holes. Did that once on a car and in the spring it blew a head gasket from such a great seal. If ya do the oil in the plug holes, should a guy crank it over in the spring with the plugs pulled out or just fire it up.
WOW (blown head gasket)?. I must say that I've never heard of that before. I've been squirting about a half of a teaspoon of oil in the cylinders of all my winterized motors for many years and never had a problem. Lawn mowers, dirtbikes, tillers, etc, even the snowblower during the summer!. Hmmmm...maybee you put too much oil down there, I'm not sure. I always crank the engine just a bit without the sparkplug wires on to coat the walls of the cylinders after adding the oil. I also put the sparkplugs in only finger tight during the winter. Yes I would crank it over for just a second in the spring to make sure things didn"t sieze up on me over the long cold winter.

TRUTH: Residual fuel and contaminants in the oil can oxidize during prolonged storage or inactivity.
Will this happen with syn oils also ? I travel for 45 days and my RK is stored for this period of time and I'm back home for 45 days, during these days I use my RK a lot, 45 days on 45 days off. Do I have to change my oil every month and a half because of the above statement. Syn oils are expense to be changing every 45 days.
I wouldn't call 45 days storage. I think you should be fine. If it was my bike I wouldn't change it. Sitting for 3 or 4 months and then faced with a busy riding season, that would be different. My .02 cents.

I used to squirt oil in my bikes cylinders for winter storage. I ended up with glazed cylinder walls. I was told by several Oil experts and mechanics that if you oil is fresh. it should leave just enough oil on the cylinder walls to prevent rust for up to six months without needing to squirt extra oil into the cylinders before storage. Synthetics have excellent molecular bonding. ( Ion attraction to metal.) Any additional coments are welcome.
