Well I decided to try Amsoil in the Harley. I picked up some SVG 75/90 gear oil for the trany and some MCV 20/50 for the engine and primary. I have not ridden to far yet but the shifting is nice and smooth, but the most noticeable thing is it seems to have quieted the engine down, not that there was that much engine noise in the first place. Everything is noticeably more quiet and smooth in general, no more of the very faint lifter tick or valve train noise that comes and gos on most HD motors depending on the engine temp.
I do belive there are a lot of good oils on the market but have come to the conclusion that a good synthetic like Amsoil and Mobil 1 are the way to go. I have defended other oils such as Syn 3 and still belive they are fine oils and do there job, but the proof is in the results and so far my Harley seems to like the Amsoil. Belive it or not the Amsoilis a littlecheaper in costthan the Syn 3 and the Mobil 1 V twin hear were I live. The only draw back is there is only one place that carrys the Amsoil in stock, other than that I have to mail order it in bulk to make it worth while.
So far so good, I have been converted about Amsoil and what people say about it smoothing there bikes out and making them run cooler.
I dont know what you pay for the amsoil oil but if you join the membership you save sone money. I use it in allmy trucks, snowmobile,2stokes enginesand bike. They seem to like it. As you said it comes to about the same. The best part is that they ship it to your door.

Yes. If you become a Preferred Customer you get the same price as the Dealers get the oil for. The only difference in a Dealer and a Preferred Customer is that the Dealer can resell it. the Preferred Customer can not. (legally) If you want to pay $30.00 a year instead of $20.00 you can become a dealer. Email me if you are interested in Either program.
