I lucked out, the kids are gone with the grandparents my is out of the shop and spring break is eminent. I am in Nor Cal about 45 min north of San Fran. I want to head south cuz I don't want to deal with snow. Does anyone have a good idea for a spring break spot preferably where there will be lots of bikinis or coeds? I'm single do you blame me? I have three days so I'd like to ride for the first party that night all the next ride home on the third. Starts this Sunday.
Well 3 days doesn't give you much time. You could go like a bat out of hell and make it all the way to San Diego. Pacific Beach... a couple of great bars right on the beach then Gaslamp at night with all the bars/clubs. Of course for a little less of a trip you always have L.A. Venice, Santa Monica, and Malibu... some great bike stops in Malibu... Neptune's Net and the Rock House... Not the party atmosphere that San Diego has but 2 hour shorter drive....

Thanks I thought about san diego but I think its just outside of how far I want to ride in a day. PB is a bad *** place too. What do you think about santa barbara? its only about 5 hours as opposed to 9. Just tryin to think of everything.
I was just up in the area. Kinda cold for Bikinis... but if you do hit Santa Barbara try to hit Cold Springs Tavern up the 154 from Santa Barbara. Great ride, great food, great bikes. Where from Nor Cal are you riding in from. Hit Cold Springs by late afternoon... got music going too on Sundays. And if you like there is an Indian Casino near Solvang and a motorcycle museum there too.
Thanks for the tip on the tavern. music sounds good. I'm leaning towards santa barbara my riding buddy has family there and found out today we could crash with them. kinda seals the deal. I'm In Napa. Can't decide if we want to take hwy 1 for part of the way or 101? any suggestions on that. maybe take it from here down to monterey then cut over?
I assume Santa Cruz would be a happening Spring Break spot. Not much of a ride for you, but at least you'd get to party pretty hard.
I'd stick to 101 if you want to make any kind of time. Last year I rode from Portland to Hollister. Stayed the first night in Fort Bragg, then rode Hwy 1 all the way to Watsonville. Took all freaking day and some of those sections were 2nd gear for many miles. Went over some big mountain just north of the Golden Gate and couldn't get past this group of mini-vans going 10 - 15mph the whole way. Once south of the City things cleared up, but it was still heavy traffic.
What's the Spring Break scene in Reno or Palm Springs like?
I would have to agree Biggzed. If you find yourself with some time you could cut off at Pismo and head through Lompoc. Either on the way to SB or on your way out the 154 is a great ride. There is also S Refugio Road from Solvang to the 101... lots of twisties... depends on your time. But a free place to stay is huge for around there.
Right on good stuff. Reno I'd have to go over the summit and its below zero with snow still. Palm springs is another idea though. Not sure what its like there I have been there this time of year and its 80 deg. perfect t shirt weather. I've been to Santa Cruz for spring break its not really warm enough yet for any real fun. Good idea though. Guess we'll stay away from 1. maybe save it for the way home. Free place is still swayin me.
