Missing Bolt

Default Missing Bolt

I just noticed what appears to be a missing bolt (see 1st pic below). Based on what I see in the service manual (2nd pic below) it appears there should not be a bolt in that location. Just curious if anyone knows why there is not a bolt installed in that location. Just seems odd to me to have a threaded hole without anything in it. Thanks!

Looks like a mounting hole for a bracket that might be used on a different bike, like maybe the Sportster S.

My guess: when you start to assemble a bike with no frame, you need a starting point to lift and position the first part of this bike, the engine. I guess it was a factory purpose only thread.
