PS bike looks great
Interesting that you say that. Just looked at the website and he states that a points coil will work but that a 3 ohm coil works best.

On a side note, got my motor down to the bare cases....finally. Thinking it will probably be Fall of this year to get it back together and in the bike. So another 6 months. All comes down to time and money.

Repop square/rectangle coils definitely do NOT work with the ignition. The builder was surprised that his ignition was eating coils, he thought for sure the coil would have killed his little ignition. But since we went 3 ohms, running flawlessly.

Well it appears that black cloth electrical tape was used and wires were routed along the back but outside the seat T area and held in place by tanks.

Pics are from an OP 65 FLH. Gives me something to go by.

Owner has not one but 2 65s. Both really good looking machines!

Interesting to see the wiring to the console outside of the console mount rather than through the holes. Not to add doubt but if the signals are an option like they are on my 62 then how the wiring is run would come down to the mechanic at the time that dealer-installed them no?

the factory directions had suggestions on locations so they did not interfere with other things

and along the side is correct ( asphalt tape ) under the seat T they get shredded - seat T movements grease nipple

Another wiring question....if I may.

Redid the base plate (thank you john). Now have new wires soldered to the generator, oil pressure and neutral light sockets.

RE: wires soldered to the generator and oil pressure light sockets. Just confirm that these are the two wires that go to the isolated Post # 7

the 7 is a hot key on post and the dashes are a thing I have come to understand - it being key on and they are the soldered back wires you have installed and the center wire green goes to arm term on gen and the center oil light is yellow to the oil switch

I have seen this connected the other way but it does not matter as the 2 sockets are isolated from the dash plate and are not grounded like one would think - its the oil switch that gives it a ground when no oil pressure is present - and the generator light is lit by the gen not energizing the voltage regulator through the fields

the 56 is a 20 amp but I use 30 amp today as everyone is older and brighter is the deal I have always mounted it to the back inside of the battery box tray using flat head 10/32 screws and ny loc nuts and a touch of glue on the horizon mounting brackets for the plastic circuit braker - plastic is sealed and it will get wet from time to time
