05 Heritage upshift to 3rd/third gear
On further inspection, I looked at the compensator and there seems to be oil in it. Is this an easy repair? Checking the internet, it looks like I have to remove the spacer and seal and just replace the seal. Would I have to replace the spacer too (1 video I saw it said I should replace it. Dunno if it's bad)?
Could this oil leak into the primary and raise the level/mix with the primary fluid to the point where it could cause issues with friction/clutch plates? I'm not sure but I do seem to have to add oil a bit more than I think I should.
(I have the primary cover off, So I might as well do everything I can to the primary area and see if it alleviates/fixes my shifting problems)
Anyway, I have parts on order for new chain, friction and clutch plates along with a new compensator (may not have to use it)
-----Geez I wish I didn't have to deal with all of this.-----
Sorry for the blurry photo.
Don't let it snap back. Bang shifting and hard engine braking on that 10B spline is very common damage. I have replaced my alternator rotor.
Bet your sprocket was running out a bunch.
I'm surprised your primary didn't sould like a rotary tiller in a gravel creek bed.
Looks like the alternator rotor spline is gone too. If you can rock it back and forth, it will tend to loosen comp nut and or just finish shucking off the spline.
With this much change, be sure to double check sprocket alignment. Measure off inner primary face. The leed to be within 1/64" or better.
