Although you did say you don't see any change in rpms it sounds more like a lean surge.
There was an issue with the early 06 bikes with the injectors. There was a service bulletin and if you had a problem the dealer put in different injectors.
If adjusting the primary chain doesn't fix the problem it may be lean in the range you describe.
I have the 25* injectors and that's what it was tuned for. The engine isn't surging at all. The bike is just rocking beneath me as i slow down.
I pulled the cover off today and being my OCD self, I checked it a few times. I have a bike jack but I didn't put the bike on it. Instead, I checked it off of the kick stand. The last measurement I got was 9/16th of an inch cold. I pulled the plugs and put the bike in 5th gear and rolled the bike about 4-5 feet. Insuring that there wasn't tension on the chain, I checked it in a couple of spots. It seems the chain is actually tighter than I thought. I haven't made any adjustments yet. I figured it would be loose. Other than putting the bike in the jack, am I missing something?
The chain being to tight could cause a problem also, as it tightens up as it gets hot. Chain should have 3/8" to 5/8" hot. So at 9/16" cold, it could be a little snug when hot. Also, chains and sprockets wear when it is to tight. I generally leave mine on the loose side at very close to 7/8" cold.
