high rpms when warmed up

I have a 05' 883xl and when i start it up it idles pretty smooth but when i take off and ride it runs at high rpm in 5th gear (like 3200 at 60mph) and then when i stop it idles around 1300 rpms i have adjusted the cluth cable and changed trans fluid... iam stuck can anyone help me out???

where do i start to figure out where the leak is at???

With your bike running, spray wd-40 around the intake flanges from the left side. If the rpm's go up, you have a leak.

MY crank position sensor on my prior bike the XL1200C did that.
Popped it out and just cleaned it and it would inprove for a month or so then did it again, cleaned it again and it went away again.
wierd as it wasn't burnt out just acting wierd.
You could try cleaning yours and see if it improves.
Easy to clean or replace. I did get a code. Forgot what the code error number was but see if you have a code.
