On our trip last summer (July) we only had two rainy days but the fog would roll in and sometimes you would feel damp. But the fog can roll right back out just as quick as it rolls in. The temperature wasn't too cold but was cool at night when it got foggy. A great place to visit is Brier Island. Passing thru Digby and head on across Long Island. You will cross two more ferry's to get to Brier Island. (short little ferrys). We stayed in the Brier Island Lodge and loved the island. It is only about 4 miles by 4 miles wide with maybe a mile of paved road.
Keep in mind that the Catferry rides on top of the water and rocks a bit. I didn't have any trouble but many people were seasick. Take a motion sick pill just to be safe. When you get on a boat and there are barf bags every 15 feet, you know it will be rocky. There are eating places, a casino, and movie areas on the ferry. From Portland to Yarmouth takes about 6 hours so you can settle into a comfy seat and watch a few movies.
