If you just spend your time in Idaho you can carry.
Open or concealed, either is fine.
We're a Constitutional carry state.
BigDog, I road trip with my brother who lives in Idaho, I love Idaho law. May wind up there when I retire, the left coast has gone off the rails.
2AMGuy, stay out of Portland and the Willamette Valley and you'll find the Oregon that used to be: loggers, mill workers, ranchers, farmers and commercial fishermen. Also just to clarify Oregon is an open carry state, no permit required unless you conceal.
I managed a coast -to-coast trip this summer. It was a weird situation because of COVID. I had time because my work was shut down, and I am typically asocial anyway, so it was good for me. Only problem is now I am fired up to do it again.
In the meantime, I've been busy getting an old bike I've had for years back on the road, trying a bunch of new things and trying to come up with some ideas for a trip when summer comes around. I even started a blog, just for fun and to keep busy: throttleblogger.com
Doing two trips so far. Eastern Utah, Colorado, NM for at least two weeks, then Fairbanks, Anchorage. The latter trip is just a buddy and I. Wife says, Utah, okay, Alaska, have a great time.
If Canada is still closed, then that trip moves to 2022 and we'll do something local, like Oregon coast to Fortuna, then back through the coast range, etc.
In our 70s, wife says two weeks at a time is okay, no more month plus trips for her.
Added: We did the Grand Tour USA last summer, 2019, and I'm glad we did it then. No big trips in 2020. In fact, got more miles on my sporty than the Road King for the first time in over 40 years.
