My whim trip
I call a long time old riding buddy that now lives in Jackson Miss. He said he was free the days I want to see him.
So I pack up the bike and head his way last Thursday afternoon from Mars Hill NC and later that evening in Gadsden Al.
The next day I made it to his house in Jackson. We hung out for the weekend and road many miles on the Natches Trace Parkway.
To make a long story longer we had a friend who picked up our mail at our Florida house in Panama City. In the mail was a current water bill that said we had to use a very unusual amount of water even though we haven’t been to the house in over a month. So I thought I had a leak somewhere so instead of going home I decide I’m gonna ride on to Panama City and see what’s going on. It turns out there was human error involved in reading our water meter, which is a good thing.
Because I’m the worlds worst picture taker I didn’t start documenting this trip till after I left Jackson Mississippi. So here I am 1200 miles later sitting at my Florida home.
So now I have a good friend here in PC that wants to follow me back to Mars Hill and ride around there next week.
I will post pictures and mileage reports as we travel here.

Stop north of Dothan
Tried to get a look at the falls
1810 total for my trip
532 miles door to door
We went to Maggie Valley and visited the Wheels Through Time Museum. What a great place! So many cool and historic motorcycles.
We then rode 209 aka The Rattler to Hot Springs. It was busy there with some artsy fartsy festivities going on.
We then took a really cool road, Hickory Nut Creek Rd, back to Mars Hill.
So I’m well over 2000 miles in this whim trip. Life is good
More pictures tomorrow after our ride.
The first Jet Ski.
An Indian chainsaw.
We took Roan Mountain Rd with the intent to ride to the top of Roan Mt. however the park service closed the road that leads to the top 3 days ago. Bummer. Was looking forward to seeing the overlook again.
So off we went south in N Carolina and rode some really twisted roads, which can be interesting in the rain. We ended up in Burnsville at a brewery called Homestake Brewery and had a beer and snack. The last 20 miles back to Mars Hill were in heavy rain, fun stuff on those tight twisties.
Got home soaking wet but with a smile.
Not many pictures because of the rain.
The top of Roan Mountain where the road was close.
