I rode down to Texas Hill Country yesterday and rode the Twisted Sisters today for the first time. Beautiful area, perfect weather, and nice roads with a mix of big sweepers and tight turns.
Headed home tomorrow morning to try and beat the cold front coming.
Who are they telling to stay alert? Cagers or bikers?
Hopefully both!
There are some tight turns that could sneak up on you if you werent paying attention after some easy sweeping curves and straights.
There was not much traffic at all, unlike many other famous motorcycle rides. I swear both times I have ridden the tail of the dragon about every 3rd curve there would be a sport bike or car across the yellow in my lane.
Im sure it gets busier on weekends and as the weather warms up.

I rode it a few years ago. I agree...great road! I had no trouble with traffic, either. Well, no trouble with motorized traffic. There must have been a deer convention in the area cuz about every 10 miles I'd see one going tippy-toe across the road in front of me. No close calls, but enough to keep me alert. I need to go back there one o' these days.
I usually stayed in Junction when I would ride the Hill Country... there was a Vet family owned motel I would stay at, don't know if they're still around.
Did you hit Mac and Ernie's for eats? That place was great for dinner... had all kinds of expensive cars lined up with yuppies sitting there, then us biker trash would ride up, should have seen their faces! Priceless! Ride up to Saltlick BBQ... great food!
The Vanderpool Motorcycle museum is a great top by, and Stonehenge II for chuckles.

I lost count of the deer I saw. No real close calls for me either but I was constantly scanning ahead for them and cattle.

Good times, food, and twisties!
I ate breakfast at Keese barbeque. I had the brisket breakfast taco with coffee- excellent.
I had planned on stopping at the motorcycle museum but it is closed during the week. Same with the Bent Rim Grill and Frio motorcycle shop.
Since those were both closed, I decided to just do the loop again backwards (clockwise). Then stopped for a late lunch at the Hog Pen in Leakey before heading back to the motel.
My oldest is thinking of moving to the San Antonio / Austin area. I sure hope he does because that’ll be perfect excuse to get out and ride that part of the country….
