Default Yosemite accomdations

My wife and I and going to Yosemite at the end of June for a couple of days. Looking for something bike friendly with food options. Not really interested in VRBO unless is walking distance to rar/restaurants. For those that have been there where do you recommend staying? Really just looking at convivence. Price is not a huge deal but also not interested in $500 a night. Some research say Groveland and or Mariposa but they complain about the drive into the park. Is that really a big deal?We have also looked a Buck Meadows but I can not find much for a decent review. Thanks for your input.

I rode to Yosemite with my cousin back in 2022. We stayed in an AirBnB somewhere near Mariposa.
The drive to the park is about 45 minutes from there, but with the reservation issue and the long lines, plan to go EARLY.
I think we were at the gate @ 6:00.
I hope you have clear weather.

It's around an hour ride to Yosemite Valley from either Groveland or Mariposa, either way it's a scenic ride. Been a while since I've been there, but if you end up staying in Groveland, be sure to visit the Iron Door Saloon.

We stayed in a cabin at Evergreen Lodge. Its a secluded area in the woods and Its out side the park but a short ride. Cabins were nice. Not expensive compared to other choices in the area. They had their own restaurant which was good and not terribly pricey. And all the usual amenities in the cabins

Look to buy the national park pass Then no issues getting in but you will need a reservation , the pass pays for itself

We stayed at the Westgate Lodge, 12 miles from West entrance. Restaurant was either on property or right next door, walking distance. Laundry facilities on site. Worked for us for two nights about 6 years ago:

Yosemite Westgate Lodge - LOWEST RATES at our Yosemite Hotel | Hotel near Yosemite National Park

I agree with buying the Park Pass, but be warned. I have been at Parks and there is a long line for Pass holders, but no line to just pay and go in. I played ignorant one morning on the bike and went to the "other" window with my pass, Ranger was not amused but let me go in. It was a long line with lots of campers.

Where are you coming from? You might consider staying in Lee Vining on the Eastern side of the Sierras and Yosemite. There are good restaurants there and a full bar at Nicely’s. Enterance to Yosemite would be via Tioga Pass and Eastern gate which is spectacular with some high alpine lakes and creeks to hang out at.The valley is really crowded especially on weekends. I’m not sure of Tioga pass will be open by then, have to check that out. From Lee Vining you have access to other nice rides and areas as well.

We will be coming in from Sacramento late in the afternoon. We thought that side might be best to stop but will look into Lee Vining. Thanks
