Well, that's your deal...... .Like I said before my group plans on RIDING out there..... This post wasn't intended to turn into a "bash" on Sturgis or those who decide to trailer in..... It doesn't bug me that they wanna trailer in, it's just not my style. I ride everywhere I go. So if you're not going and just wanna bash people that are, find a different thread. I think I saw one for debates about Sturgis. We are going and this thread is for people that may wanna meet up.....simple as that.....nothing more nothing less....

The Mrs and I already have a room booked in Rapid City. It will be my first time but she has been once before. We would certainly be interested in meeting up for a ride. I have another commitment on 6 and 7 Aug in Las Cruces, NM so we will be heading up from Killeen, TX via NM and may not get there until late on that Monday. That commitment in NM will require me to wear a dress uniform, so we will likely be trailering the bikes unless I can figure out a way to carry dress blues on the bike.
I, too, am in a similar line of work as a few of you, except I do it for the Army. (MP currently deployed at a detention facility in Baghdad)
My wife and I stay in Rapid City and we do ride to Sturgis. I understand the guys that ride trophies out there and not scoots would trailer. My question was last year, 4 guys had a pickup pulling a trailer with 4 RoadKings on it. They had MN plates, imho, the question was why the heck can't you ride a RoadKing, isn't that what they are built for, touring??
Me and the OL will be doing sturgis again this year, I'd like to ride all the way to key west, hit the tail of the dragon along the way. The wife wants to NYC so maybe we'll ride up the coast on the way home. It's gonna be a long trip.
Outside of bike week, the Iorn Horse Inn (http://www.ironhorseinnsturgis.com/) is a great place to stay. Only about 2-3 miles north of Sturgis, this place was built for bikers. Rates outside of bike week are around $60 per night. Rates are somewhat higher during bike week ($260 or so per night with 2 beds). Visited Sturgis bike week in 79 and 80. Prefer to remember it that way. City Park camping was the way to go back then.
Leaving from NW Pa on the 7th and arriving on the 9th. 1st stop is Janesville,Wi and then on to Mitchell,Sd. Staying in Custer,Sd for 5 nites. Also in the Leo businesss, but watch them.
jlsk624... I live in N.E. IL. Right now I've got a group of three bikes, five people total, and my truck and trailer going. Leaving Saturday the 7th I believe, we're also spending the night in Mitchell S.D., and staying in Keystone (arriving there on the 8th). We'll probably jump on 90 in Janesville as well as it's the closest place for us to get on. I always ride my bike on the trips, but like the idea of having a support vehicle there "just in case", and it's nice to have extra tools and storage space along as well. So, if you'd like to meet up in Janesville and take 90 North up to the twin cities and possibly hook up with some of the above members from MN, I'm all for it. And do any of you mid-west guys that posted earlier want to meet along the way, "consider me in"! Anyone interested can P.M. me and we can work out the details.
I'll be part of a group, most likely 6 bikes, leaving Milwaukee the morning of the 7th. We would be willing to have others join us or we could join an already formed group...as long as the others don't mind a goldwing or two as part of the crew.
