What's going on? All of you guys express an interest in hooking up for the ride out there, but I've made several invites/requests to ride with some of you guys since we're taking the same route and no responses? Did I foget to put on deodorant today or something??? C'mon, let's set something up, it could make for a more enjoyable ride out to the rally!

Sorry I fell off the earth on this thread..... My group would be interested in meeting up with anyone anywhere. Probably somewhere on I-90. We don't plan on leaving until the morning of the 9th. That would but us on I-90 in southern MN somewhere in the early afternoon of the 9th. Don't know if that works for anybody. Jeff, I'm sure there still is a lot of interest, but it's super early still and some people might not know when and exactly which way they're gonna go. And you smell fine to me.
Went last year and had a great time, but will pass on this summer. I've put off my knee replacement as long as I can, so 1 June I get it done. don't know if I can rehab good enough by August and ridie the bike all that way. Will shoot for the next year.

Problem is you guys will be comin in from the east, we're on the opposite side probably comin in the 90 from the west.
Haven't decided where to stay yet. Last year we pitched a tent in a the shady acres campground. Wouldn't mind staying in a bit closer. It was pretty dead out there, nothing going on at all. Wouldn't mind staying closer in, so a guy could maybe have a few cocktails and not worry about driving a half hour back to the campground. It would be ideal not to have to drive.
I'm staying in Keystone, here http://www.holysmokeresort.com/, but it's 52 miles from Sturgis, so that may not be the place for you since you said you'd like to be closer to town. I like being this far away. I can sleep at night and not have to hear burnouts or screaming drunks. I do plan on having a few cocktails as you said as well, but this place has it's own bar so I'll do my drinking there, after I'm done riding. I just checked, and they've only got two cabins left. I thought their prices were very reasonable compared to how much the other places jack up their prices during the rally.
There was a little bar in the campground where we stayed. A few people would go there for drinks in the evening. It wasn't really a happening place. Basically just a whole lot of guys asking different women to lift their shirts, then they'd all gather around and take a bunch of pictures, like they've never seen a set of ***** before. sheesh. Not the atmosphere to take your wife to.
I just felt that with all the sturgis hype and the millions of people that go there, there has to be some better entertainment in the evenings. We did go to the Aerosmith concert which was excellent for the 10 minutes they played untill dumbass tayler fell off the stage.
We popped into the full throttle one hot after noon for a cool one and there was an ac/dc cover band playing. I thought they were excellent. That's what I'm talking about. Just to go into a bar, with a really good band, and a lot of people having a good time. So I think you have to be a bit closer to the action for that right?
What's it like at the holy smoke and is it close to keystone? Like walking distance?
Zues, I can't tell you, this is my first time staying there, but the lady that I booked with (who I'm assuming is one of the owners) said that out of the twelve or so people that had already made reservations, most had been staying there for many previous years. So I'm guessing that it's enjoyable to bikers. I know what you mean about guys asking gals to lift their shirts, as I'm bringing mine (and my Mother) as well! As far as more "happening" places go. That's why I'm bringing my truck. After a good day of riding there are two people in my group that don't drink, so if we decide to go into Sturgis for some cold ones, they'll be the designated drivers. I'm hoping I've got all of my bases covered as I've heard that the cops are cracking down on drunk drivers.
P.S. I wouldn't mind going to the Buffalo Chip on Monday for the "Legends Ride" with ZZ Top, and then seeing their concert afterwards either.

There are 210 days as of today before we leave for Sturgis. I am not sure how many are going, as little as 3 as many as 10+. we are leaving south Florida and heading out on August 5th. Haven't been back since 2006 (first time), gonna do things differently this time. The bad thing is that it is 210 days away. The good thing is, I have plenty of time to get things ready. :-)
