Hey, I know this is quite a ways out, like 8 months. Anyone going to Sturgis 2010 interested in meeting up and goin for a ride. I figure we can decide on a place and a day during the rally to get a group together and take a cruse..... Trying to guage interest in this, so speak up if you're in.
I'm in...maybe it should be in the morning though due to amount of traffic volume later in day. It isn't easy to keep any type of group larger than 5-6 bikes together during rally week. Maybe we could do a planned route, go at your own pace ride with stops that include our favorite roads and places of interest with a final stop like the Nemo Guest Ranch where we can all meet at the end as a group.. I've got some stops I'm pretty sure most have never seen but all would enjoy..
me and the old lady are riding out with a few friends for the first time.were not sure where to stay yet,any suggestions
This is gonna be my first time riding out as well. My buddy's family has a house near Sturgis and we are staying there. There a lot of campgrounds nearby.....all depends on what you are looking for. If you stay at the Buffalo Chip, expect a non stop party. if you want something more quiet look at www.shadevalley.com or www.wyattshideaway.com. The Full Throttle has some neat looking cabin/shacks for rent as well. If you go to www.sturgis.com you fill find all kinds of options.
damn you have it made with a free place to stay.I seen those small cabins at the full throttle, do you know how much those are a night?probably pretty damn expensive for what you get. I am going to look into some of your suggestions, and definitelt count me in on that ride your setting up.
Joe, we're going to be there mid week and would be in to a ride, I agree with others about it being hard to keep a group together in traffic. A planned route with a couple of planned stops and a meet and greet at the end would be a good plan I think. Looking at your avatar, we're in the same business. I think it would be cool to meet others from the forums.
We already have our rooms booked in Rapid City. We are going with a group that we ride with. I personally like to stay down in Rapid City since we only go to Sturgis one day. It is crowded and over priced there. We do a lot of rides, Custer, Needles, Iron Mountain Road, Badlands and Spearfish Canyon just to name a few. If you do like to ride and not be caught in traffic jams, ride early!
