The Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming. I may take a ride there from Canada. Anyone one been there? I hear the 14 is supposed to be a fine route to ply our riding skill's on.
Went to BNF last August as part of our trip west. Views are awsome..14 and alt14 (northern route) are both good roads. We hit a little road construction but i didnt think it was to bad. Place reminds me of a larger version of the Black hills in South Dakota. Buffalo Bill History center in Cody is worth a look as well.
After leaving Denver a couple of years ago went north through Nebraska Windy or What!! Stopped at Sturgis, thenen after leaving the Dakota area went West overnighting in Buffalo, Cody, on route to Yellowstone, some great riding, if you get that far across do the Beartooth Pass, absolutely beautiful. Ride safe Dave In UK
It's a very small part of the great rides in the west.....
Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, the Dakota's, Arizona and Nevada are hard to beat....
Enjoy..
+1 to that, my favorite area of the US. Went through Bighorn several years ago, (25-30 years ago) it was foggy and stopped and turned off the motor. We were the only people around. The silence was deafening, it was kind of spiritual in a strange way.
They're often working on one or the other. Last August I took 14A which was the wrong choice as they were doing major work. What was depressing is they were actually re-routing parts of the road to eliminate a few of the sharp curves. (On the eastern side near the peak)
Checking Google maps I noticed a route called the Old US highway 14a. It veers off the 14 goes North and looks real twisty and fun. Hooks up to the 14 again. Whats that road like?
