California to Kentucky (ran out of time before I could reach the east coast), Sturgis 5 times, Colorado 3 times, Arizona 3 times, Washington 2 times, Iowa 1 time (that was for a woman)

Past summer to San Antonio, Texas and back (some of the nicest people I have ever met on the back roads).

Late summer next year from Kali to Virginia. Gonna go through the mid west getting there and come back through the South.

Nice to go at your own pace and stop when you want (though I did hit one 'dry' county in Texas - serious bummer)

I stay off highways and freeways by choice, but getting out of the immediate Bay Area presents its own challenges at times depending on the destination.

I can't decide whether or not you guys that run w/o windshields are either nutty or just have ***** as big as church bells!
They just ride the side streets and avoid the highway...they say "It's the journey, not the destination". What they don't realize is the destination IS the journey!

2000 miles in 4 days from the flats of Florida to the hills of North Carolina.
I could not have had as much time in the hills if I rode side streets to get there, so I did 80-90 on the flattop the whole way.
My journey was to take in as much of the mountains as I could, not have a 2 day leisurely ride to get there, and 2 days to get home....NO, I wanted to ride in the mountains and see the sights a couple of days, and have it take only a day to get there and a day to get home.
I'da loved to have had more time and stay in the mountains longer.... You can't possibly see all of the waterfalls, cliffs, overlooks, etc. Once you reach your destination THEN ride the sidestreets.

I learned another valuable lesson that day. Tying a bandana around your face is good to keep the wind, chill and light rain off...once you get into heavy rain, it is what I can only equate to water-boarding!!! NOT GOOD!

I always keep a over sized bandanna in the bike for that reason. Here in Florida you can get hammered by rain out of nowhere.
If I get real hot I soak it in water and tie it around my neck.

Show you how stupid I am---went from Chiago to Milwaukee solo--was going to comeback the same day--ended up driving all over Wisconsin (back roads, bunch of small towns) didn't come home for 4 days and had the time of my life---till today the OL thinks I'm goofy.
