Im going to take the Wife on a 4 day trip to ride those famous Tenn. and N.C. roads the first week of June. I live in Ohio and have never been there. I have done some searching on this forum and found some suggestions, but most posts talk about which roads to ride which has been very helpful.
I would like suggestions based on experiences of those who have their favorite places to stay in the area. Im looking for something thats biker friendly, close to the Dragon and the Skyway and that is not too expensive. My Wife wants a pool or a hot tub! Some of the Biker motels Ive looked at dont have pools and I want her to enjoy herself so she will want to take more trips with me. I have a 2010 Road King and we are new to Touring. Thanks in Advance!
I don't know how much you want to spend?? Fontana Village Resort is nice. It's right at the Dragon and Cherohala. www.fontanavillage.com Don't know what the rates are, but if you want to impress the wife, here's your chance.
If you want your wife to have a really good time you can stay in Pigeon Forge TN. It's onlly about 25 minutes from the dragon and good riding to the dragon you can take the foothills parkway and be right there. Also there is plenty of shopping for the wife to do there. We are going Memorial Day weekend and we always stay in Pigeon Forge. Hope this helps.
Maggie Valley is a motorcycle mecca and close to all of the most enjoyable riding roads in NC and TN. The Travelowes is a motorcyle freindly motel in Maggie Valley. I am heading back there this summer.

I stayed at Fontana Village back in Sept 09. I was with a group of about 6-8 and we all pitched in about 30 dollars for a two BR cabin on their property. It is real nice and secluded but close to the Dragon and Skyway. I will definately sty there again.
leaving may 19th for maggie valley and staying at the holliday motel. very reasonable rates. 3 nights 49, 59, 59, thur-sat. for son and myself. really ready to go. leaving east coast n.c. riding all day. I'm so ready. first time for son and I.
Kroozeabout.
We rented this cabin. I thought it was the ideal location, located between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We were so impressed, we reserved it again for this year.

I will be at the Holiday Motel May 20-22. Rob and Gaby are great hosts and are very M/C friendly, they ride too.
Another great place to stay near the Tail and Skyway is the Ironhorse Resort in Stecoah.
Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are tourist traps and lots of traffic to get around. Just my 2 cents.
