Planning a 4 day ride. I'v seen most of Arizona so heading to some areas I haven't seen yet.
Day 1 US 60 to Safford then up to Alpine.
Day 2 North to Petrified Forest, Canyon de Chelly, then up to Monument Valley.
Day 3 North Rim of the Grand Canyon
Day 4 Home
About 1200 miles round trip. https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=p...m&dirflg=d&z=7
Sounds like a good time. I just got back from Phoenix, went up to Strawberry while I was there. It's some nice riding up there. If it was up to me I would be living in Arizona.
Really like Safford to Alpine, Canyon De Chelly is interesting, but it would be better if you could go up the canyon and not just see it from the rim.
Petrified Forest holds little interest for me, but the North Rim is awesome. I like it better than the South.
Goulding Trading Post in Monument Valley is interesting and they have pretty good food there. Camron Trading Post between Page and Flagstaff has good food. (Navajo taco that is huge).
Since you are going to be close, the Hubble Trading Post in Granado is a very interesting place.
You are going to love Alt 89 thru Marble Canyon. Be sure to stop by and see the gang at Lees Ferry Lodge for a quick libation before heading to the north rim.
It closes first snow fall, it hasn't snowed there yet.
"Grand Canyon, Ariz. - The staff on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park will begin to shut down most visitor services and facilities on Monday, October 15; but the North Rim will remain open to visitors through November 25 or until snow closes Highway 67 leading into the park."

I went through New Mexico a couple of weeks ago on my way to Antlers, OK. Went through Hobbs. I'm glad I live in AZ. (sorry, couldn't resist).
