Default New Orleans

I'm taking a trip to New Orleans next week and it seems I have Goofed. We decided we would take advantage of some last minute hotel deals for our one night ironically Jazz festival is going on that weekend and ALL hotels are either booked or outrageous. Can anyone suggest a good place to stay outside of New Orleans ( my wife and another lady are going so it must be clean). I would just pick a place but I am unfamiliar with the area.

Thanks All

Jazzfest is on for about 10 days, so everything will be booked from about the 24rd on to about may 6th...or available at top dollar.
Jazzfest wraps at about 7pm each night so all those people spill onto Bourbon Street.
great scene if you like drunks in crowds.

Suggest you re-plan for another destination.

Gulf Coast is nice and there may be some deals.

I have to go NOLA for work the 25th to 29th...we booked rooms about 8 months ago

Mike

You could try a hotel in Slidell, LA, about a 30 - 45 minute drive as I remember.

Harrahan area, near the airport, or the Metarie area should have rooms. North or north-west, NOT East. South of downtown across the river, known as the West Bank, is ok for a third choice...

We always go to NOLA the week between Christmas and New Years. Hotels in NOLA and surrounding are always packed and the prices are jacked up. We stay on the north shore in Covington. Even when NOLA hotels are full and prices are 2X-3X their normal rates we can always get a room in Covington for really cheap "off season" rates. For example, just on the north side of I-12 are a bunch of really nice hotels. We've stayed at the Mariott and Super 8 Suites. Price during Christmas week the past 2 yrs was $109/night and included a hot breakfast. These are very nice places and secure. To get to NOLA just hop on 190 in front of the hotels and 190 takes you across the Causeway and into NOLA.

Yes, definitely what wadcutter said. And, when i said not east, i meant within the city. Slidell, like ftworthcowboy said, is a great choice.

We found that if the address says "Chef Menteur" we're not staying there.

A lot of the haunted hotels in the French quarter normally have rooms, have you tried them?
