A friend and myself are planning a trip 7/31-8/5/13. We are in Omaha,Ne and max we want to ride is 400 miles/day. We are up for any direction but being in the middle of the country we can't decide where to go. Anyone have any suggestions?
I would look into the "Ozarks", Southern Missouri and Arkansas. Some great roads and scenery. Omaha to Springfield Mo. is about 400 miles. from their you can do Bransion, MO. EurekaSprings, AK. Etc.

That is not a bad suggestion. The Ozarks really never came to mind.
Omaha to Cheyenne is less than 500 miles. From there the opportunities are endless. Spend a day or two getting to Yellowstone (another 475 miles or so, could break it up if you wanted), or the Grand Tetons, or Big Bear, or Estes Park, or the Badlands.
If I were you I'd spend one boring day riding due west, then a bunch of awesome days circling around Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Idaho area.
