I like to stop about every hour and a half or so. Even if it is only long enough for gas. Amazing what a five minute brake will do. Fifteen minutes even better. For me I like to also use a lip balm that has an spf too. If not I will get a fever blister from the sun

You gotta just ride and see what works for you. The compression shorts suggestion is great for some, I've worn 'em and hate 'em. Ridden many 1000+ mile days...it's your *** in the seat. Stretch your legs once in awhile, get the blood flowing, drink lots of water and have fun. Everybody's fitness level is different so your endurance level will vary. 1000 miles over a couple days should be a breeze!

All great advice in my opinion. Powder your behind also, baby powder or even better Anti Monkey Butt powder.
Check out the Touring Tips & Tricks thread here also. Might have some info you didn't think of.

I average 45 MPH on rural highways, stopping every 80-100 miles. You could average much better on the super slab. So, 450 - 550 miles a day is actually pretty easy to do.

The trick is to get at it early, break often, stretch, stay hydrated, wear appropriate clothing, and pop a couple of aspirin after lunch.

I think it might be a combination of bike ergonomics and personal comfort, I regularly ride long distance. I did 3 round trips Wisconsin to philly in May and I just did Wisconsin to Dallas. All those were straight thru 1 way. Probably because I'm too lazy too figure out where too stay on the way. The longest I ever did was Wisconsin to Houston via popular bluff mo, over 1100 miles in about 21 hours. I arrived at 5am took my sister to a late lunch for her birthday then did a carbo load 12oz at a time. I left for the return trip at 5am the next morning via big cabin ok.

I suffer no ill affects, I think that all my dicking around with seating, pegs and bars makes me comfortable. I spend long hours in front of a computer screen, working not reading the forum, so I setup the bike so that my hand position and seat stance is fairly similar. I always wear a FF helmet and earplugs for high speed long distance and that keeps noise irritation to a minimum. I use a sundowner seat, an old bar design now sold as vrod easy reach bars and 4 inch risers. I angle the bars back and tighten the throttle screw. No fancy underwear but if I thought I needed it I would use road biking shorts, inside seamless padded leather. I do use a windshield above 60ish. About every 3rd gas stop (gas is 130 miles on my dyna at speed) I have another red bull and a payday, granola bars and water at all other stops. The only time I used Advil was from buffeting caused by an oblique headwind at 25 gusting to 35. If your going to wear a helmet make sure to wear it on your test rides, get your neck in shape.

If you you are sore after a ride then something must be wrong, some kind of irritation. I would diagnose that first,
