Trip advice, Leaving Houston with no destination 3-4 days
OK I am looking for some suggestions. 3 of us have taken 4 days off and are going to ride with no real destination in mind. We are leaving North Houston area and I am looking for suggestions.
We will ride around 500 mile give or take each day.
One thought I have is riding towards Gulf Shores VIA the Creole trail and then north through Alabama to north Arkansas and finally back through north Texas and home.
Any other suggestions or good rides? I am kind of thinking the Ozarks?
Thanks in advance.
Went out to Big Bend then up thru mts to NM, when I lived in Lake Charles. My first bike in the real mountains trip. 600 mile day should get you close.... Back across the plains was a long ride tho.
AR and some east OK cold easily use up a lot of your time, too
Ozarks are always good - SE Oklahoma, Arkansas. But, I love Big Bend, Alpine, Marfa, Ft. Davis, the Davis Mountains and riding across Guadalupe Pass and into New Mexico. Can't go wrong there.
OK, We decided on "The Pig Trail" in Arkansas, then ride some more of the area. Any advice on must ride roads? We are thinking of going south east from there and eventually cross back into Texas from Lousianna. Also any advise on places to stay in Arkansas? I was thinking of a hotel in Ozark the first night but open to other suggestions. Not fancybut clean is nice.
