I have a 2016 white CVO Street Glide, I have 122 HP and 139 TQ from work I did myself on the bike but still spent $5000 on parts alone plus my time, I will never see that money. That's why I'll be riding this one till i can't ride anymore. It's probably my last 2 wheeler. I've been riding since I was 18 and my first bike was a 69 sporty, I'm 62 now and have owned a bunch in between. Before the days of $40,000 bikes you could ride for 5 years and get back 80%, that's just not the case anymore. The market is saturated and the buyers are drying up. It's just a fact of life
I've stated this before, when i saw this bike, i thought man that is the one. And it has been, i just added fog lights. I'll have to update my pictures. The fog light addition was purely a safety thing, more light to be seen by the distracted drivers, but i like how they look also.
This is my sunset bike, my last and at 72 i think i, God willing, I have a few more good years of ridding, then i will pass it on and i'm not looking to get a big pay day, but i won't be trying to sell it at a dealership, low ball city.
Dealership is asking 2 K over internet pricing on the new bike and the dealership is offering 6K less internet trade in pricing, I'd be going from a CVO to a non CVO model.
The way I see it. They are doing just fine without my buisness and just don't give a crap.
I went south 150 miles to buy the CVO when this dealership said they couldn't get one for me, I'm betting I could do the same thing again, south, north, east, west, meh! Their loss. I may spend a few dollars finding the deal, but, I'm betting I find it.
OR, I'll just keep it, I wasn't disappointed with the bike, my wife suggested the new bike.
the depreciation will slow down each year...keep riding it or find yourself another dealer. I consider trading my cvo every time I'm at the dealer and then I start thinking about all extras my bike has and all I'd be giving up and I leave happy...oh by the way does your wife have any sisters?
Percentage-wise, a CVO will lose more value than the comparable standard Touring model.
In another thread asking about CVO's, I did a little research. Based on NADA low/wholesale value, a '15 Road Glide Ultra lost 40% of its value, and a '15 Road Glide CVO lost 44% of its value.
Well the problken with NADA is there was no 15 Road Glide Ultra. The only way the ultra came was the CVO.
No dealer is ever going to give you a nickle over trade in blue book value. It's how they operate. Private sale is the only way to go if you want to recoup your money.
Even better, hang on to your old bike, the M8 is nice but still has some bugs to get worked out.
My dealer had a used CVO on the floor a few years ago
and it it wasn’t selling. I asked why? They said used CVO’s are hard to move because people always want new ones. They know are going to drop
some serious coin and they do not want a “used” one.

I got high retail on my last trade (not a CVO). It's the only reason I got rid of the bike.
I bought my 12 CVO Street Glide because I loved it. Not what I would get on a trade. You are always going to take a hit on a trade. Thats the price of convenience. Sell it privately and get a little more.
