CVO,s are beautiful bikes but the depression stinks.i paid €43,995 euro,s for my Ultra Classic CVO in 2012.trade now with low mileage and pristine €16,000.Iv seen ultra limiteds Selling for more.Dealers will tell you when your buying they are great value and will always hold value 😡 My dealer told me the other day,he may only sell 1 CVO a year and will find it hard to sell mine.If I was to buy again I’d buy second hand.Id never buy new.Ud want to be buying a CVO for life to make any sense.Thats just my personal experience.
Yeah, come on guys... who *ever* bought something with wheels and "expected" it to keep value or appreciate? You want that - wait 35 years and hope you bought the one that resonates that far down the road. MCs are too small a market and tastes vary to widely for "value retention" to be a viable concept.
Was looking at a new bike this past weekend, sales guy asked if I was thinking about trading my 13 FLTRXSE2, so I said maybe...
The bike is immaculate, tons of accessories to include the factory matched tour pack, all of the CVO paraphernalia still in the original packaging, binder full of maintenance receipts.
Trade Value on a 37K new bike at my local H-D Dealership. 18K!
Yes, less than half of what I spent.
Not sure my next bike is going to be a Harley based on this experience.
Sell your bike private party..the dealership wants to make money on your trade, at least $2-$3k. I never trade in anything unless I really do not want to deal with a private party sale. And like any vehicle, you never expect to get your money back. I paid close to $100k on a new Cadillac Escalade in 2016, that's barely worth $45k now. Vehicles are not investments, they're for enjoyment or transportation. If you want to invest, look into ForEx.
When I bought my CVO, the dealership warned me that it would depreciate much faster because I put a lot of miles on. I only bought it because they got me a lot for my totaled '14.
That may be true but the test is the price on the new bike you want and how much they negotiate.
All true, its the price out of the door that matters. I've never paid over msrp for a cvo and once actually got a $5k discount on a new cvo and kbb on my trade. Don't get locked into a particular dealer or bike while shopping otherwise you're leverage goes away. Of course if you dig a particular color combo, you are limited.

I agree when I was bike shopping I prepared myself to go to every single dealer I could to get what I wanted. Fortunately the second dealer sealed the deal with me.
