CVO Depreciation
I fully agree.
I also do pretty well on my trades. The dealer I use does not try to rape me.
At one time, you could buy a bike, ride it for nearly as full season and then sell it for darned near what you paid for it.
At one time, we had 5 in the garage but we've cut back to 4 and may probably go back to 5 if I decide to buy myself a new Tri-Glide and can get a decent price out of my '13 CVO Ultra.
Two (not really related to a bike) issues is the amount of months (approximately 5) and the amount of riding time we can get here in lower Michigan.
If I'm going to pay $ 4000 to $ 5000 per year in depreciation on a vehicle, I can lease a new Chevy Silverado or a even a Cadillac for vacations and road trips for that amount of money and then just ride my older bikes locally.
I think MOCO is simply over-producing what the current market is calling for in order to make more money on volume sales.
yeah but i lost the 11k+ i had put in the bike. I took the trade as fast as i could in december when the bike i wanted came in. Especially since things have dropped off the past few months. Trade values are falling even more. Glad i got out when i did on that one. Bought a 18 flxtrse and dropped another 10k on this one. Sometimes we never learn. Lol.
Im in UK, same here as US usually give no extra for accessories
Got 14k bike has 117 fitted by me 130/134 dynoed
Purchased bike 4yrs ago from same dealer 5000ml on it, now has 21000ml.
Took the deal, thought not bad on a 7yr old bike with the new softails now launched?
i have a spreadsheet that i got from another member here where you can list all of your upgrades and mods to help with your insurance or even just to keep a tally on how much you spend on your bike. my bike, 2013 cvo road glide: extra coverage for insurance for mods: less than $3k (thats the min that they sell). wife's bike, 2012 road glide custom: extra coverage for her mods: between $10k and $12k. that basically puts the cost of her bike right in cvo territory.
do cvo's depreciate? sure they do. so do your standard models. comparing msrp to msrp, cvo's may even depreciate a little more on percentage. but once you add in all those mods to your standard model, no brainer. pay more upfront, pay less during ownership, get more on the backend.
long and short its mine wont see another one like it period
my buddy has a 2016 cvo ultra guess what we see them all over same paint .
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
BTW, my friend also has a 16 CVO SG in white, and his is the only white one I have seen on the road.
I have a 03 Fatboy that I have way more money in than any CVO. I have zero intentions of ever selling it. Its a 1 of 1.
I have a 13 CVO King with almost 6K motor work, no intentions of ever selling. Have more in the fatboy than this bike.
Have a 18 CVO Road Glide. I'm sure it will be traded in a couple years, around 45K on the odometer. CVO works for the bike I travel on, dont have to add much, has everything. Can trade and not lose my azz on add ons.
I have yet to see another Gunship gray on the road. I am 100% sure I will at bike week.
I traded a 17 CVO Street glide with 21K at 11 months old on the bike above, there were there identical ones on a charity ride.
How many bikes have you rode 2 years, put 45K on and got 4K less in trade than you paid for it? I have done that with a few CVO's
