I recently returned home from the initial 1,000 mile Dealer service this morning on my 2018 CVO Limited. Initially the Harley Davidson 62700194 Milwaukee Eight Oil Temp read 225 degrees and HI OIL. After an hour the temperature was 161 degrees and the oil level shows 0.25 qt (0.24 L) low (see picture below). Before servicing the Oil Level showed Full, Cold Oil and above 160 degrees. Do I need to add 0.25 qt of SYN3 to properly protect my 117 Engine?
Thanks for your response. However, with the Oil Temperature below 100 degrees it still shows 0.25 Low.
Dealer's invoice was for 7qt.
Service Manual states 5 qt for Engine and Filter, 34 oz for Primary and 32 oz for Transmission. That equals 7 qt and 2 oz. Therefore they charged me for less oil than the Service Manual states.
I assume because the LCD Dipstick is Harley-Davidson that it is correct; see below page from their Instruction Sheet.

100 degrees on oil is not hot barely even warm. Hot means HOT . The cold checks are just a safe to run and get it hot level. You know it getting over full when you see Oil in the breather.
No need to be OCD about it. As long as it is above the add mark all is well. They tend to find their own levels over time. My '08 Roadie likes the middle of the range best. Put in any more and it just burns off anyway.
Over the road truckers and boaters going away from shore ted to start at the full line but for us unless it is at or near the add line just ride.

That makes sense. After 93K miles on my 110 CVO I never had an oil issue. But I am concerned about the 117 Milwaukee 8. I guess I do not understand why when the MOCO ships the CVO with Full Oil and after riding 1,000 miles it is still full, why the Dealer doses not fill it to the full line. They use bulk oil so it cannot be a container problem. I recently moved to this are and purchased my CVO from this dealer. I am not happy with their Service Department but took it in for the 1,000 mile service because that was part of the deal. I'll keep an eye on it and appreciate your comments
