Hope that's the case! I did a 645 mile ride last Saturday and that's when it started. It was not a hard ride so I don't know why all of a sudden it started leaking on both sides?? I have an August 7th appointment. let you know then. Thanks.
might be a porosity problem my bike is in the shop tore apart machanic said cylinders could be leaking due to porosity who knows when ill get my bike back.
my '07 SERK has 11000 miles, one new engine (@6700 mi.) and a a new rear cylinder. Oil leaks: was told this last time that the base gasket and the cylinder stud gasket overlap allowing oil to travel up the stud and out under the nut. had a base gasket leak from day one due to faulty machining. HD and SD Harley Davidson have been very responsive with both these situations.
Hope your dealer has a quick service department so you dont lose out on too much summertime riding. Maybe a base gasket and they will get er done quick!
Otherwise.............
Looks just like what mine did. Started around 3000 miles. Let it go for 2000 miles, was waiting for the 5000 check since it was such a slight ooze. Right before i took it in, 5300 miles, i got home from a 300+ mile ride, last part doing 80 down thehighway for about 40 milesand it got worst. Actually sprayed down the bags on the right side, way too much for aporosity problem in this case. Took it in that Monday for my scheduled 5000 mile check and they got it done in 3 days.Haveshy of 7000 on it now and no leaks.I also had them check the crank run out and rocker clearance as i have heard that come up here. They said they were in tolerance, not sure what the tolerance was. They said it was an O ring problem (that's what they said) and that it could have been pinched during the engine build. Who knows, anyway, when they replaced those they replaced all the other gaskets.I should be good to go. These guys have always treated me good and do good work so i have no reason to doubt them. In my case the bike was down maybe an extra day or two on top of the 5000 check in July. I didn't think that was too bad.
good artice in the iron works mag. on how close tollerances are for o-ring at base of cylinders for 110ci engine and they are out of spec and not sealing. O-rings just floating around, and this article is about the 110ci beinga full waranty engine from H.D.
This makes me wonder what the next recall is going to be!
