The pods are super easy to access, once the RF Amp is removed, there is going to be plenty of room for one or more amps, there is a lot of room for alternative bag speakers
RF managed, once again to deliver a bologna sandwich when it comes to audio....no offense to those who love it, honestly....imho, it is just ok, pretty muddy and distorted
Harley however, whether inadvertently or on purpose, made it easier to work on
Watch the video its either an interface off the head unit which they are working on this way the amp goes
or
Leave the shitty amp in place, pull a signal from that, clean it up with a dsp then through additional amps
for now he mentioned a 6.5 and a 6x9 by Hertz that are drop in replacements no amps, dsp, etc just nix the RF crap speakers and you have a pretty good upgrade in and of itself
Whole lot better, much better Bass front and rear, 6X9's bass in the bags are night and day,
That's what I wondered. Ran hertz ML1650.3 component speakers in the 16 and 18 RGs for a long time and like the hertz sound quality, of course that is with an aftermarket amp. With the GT/GTS radio simply swapping speakers didn't work well at all.
Is it a big enough difference that you think you may be able to call it "good enough" and stop at speakers or still lacking a lot?
I've got all winter to play so may just get bored enough to drop the ML1650.3 and tweeters I pulled from the 18 CVO when I traded in and see how they sound.

I caught a good chunk of the video, certainly interested in how he and others will get around the new system. Didn't watch the whole thing but will go back to the part about trimming the tabs on the 6x9s, would suck to have that turn into a leak in the rain. Hopefully the supplied gasket is enough.
