Well my wife and I finally got to the dealer today to work on this deal. We were supposed to last weekend but some unexpected family business came up and couldnt get there. So anyway, as of today, No Deal :-( They will not go lower than $30k otd. and they don't want to give me anymore than book trade-in value on my Sportster, which is a pretty tricked out ride. (2k in custom wheels and about another $4k or so in chrome, etc.) I refuse to get raped on my trade, which I was anyway in my offer. I offered them $23k and my bike and it still wasnt enough for them. I was ready and willing to write the check if they agreed. I was kinda surprised that it didnt fly to be honest.
Thinking we're going to back it down a little work something out on a Street Glide since it's a little less costly and I can keep the Sportster (won't loose my butt on it) and get the SG as well. The only two touring bikes that fit me like a glove stock are the CVO RK and the SG. One way or another I will get a new bike in my garage soon :-) It's just so crazy that I am bringing $25,000 to the table for a motorcycle and it's still not enough....Amazing!
PS. I wouldnt be surprised if they call me back...so I am kinda holding tight. What a game this can be.
I'm not surprised, but I think they will likely not call you back. I hope I am wrong. If they do stick to your guns. At any rate the best I can tell there is a huge difference between the CVO and the Glide... I guess you need to think about how much you are going to shell out to get the Glide the way you want it. My experience tells me much more then the CVO...
Frankly, where I am I probably should have bought a CVO Ultra, of course I did not have the money... but it would have saved me in the long run.
At any rate enjoy, I see a lot of 08 Bikes out there.
Oh yes, if you can why not sell the Sporty yourself... it doesn't sound like cash flow is a real issue and I'm sure you will do better selling it on your own.
The ride quality of the 09 Streetglide is far superior than the 08 SE Roadking plus you wont have the headache of issues with the 110 motor. Just curious which dealer are you working with?

Just picked up a 2008 SE RK for 27k w 231 miles... They guy bought it and out in about 5k of stuff (tuner, bub pipes, roller rockers etc)
OTD for 30k w/ 7 year warranty... Dealers out here are hurting... A freind who works at one said most bikes have 4700 in profit built in them....

You hit the nail on the head with why I was wanting to purchase a CVO. By the time I'm done making a non-CVO my own so it fits me well, etc. I could have done it cheaper by just buying the CVO. However, as many have mentioned on here, the dealers are supposedly "dealing" because of the economy, etc but I am not finding that to be true here in my area of FL. I am not in dire straits that I must have another bike today nor am I in love with any particular model, however, the CVO RK in the 105 Anniversary colors is really one to have for a long time in my humble opinion....But on the other hand, I would like some kind of deal for it, especially because to me it's a hobby and more of a luxury item rather than an everyday rider. When one makes a pretty reasonable offer with room for negotiating and they allow that person to walk right out without making a counter offer...I find that surprising and a little offensive and I take it as they don't need my business...so luckily I have the option of taking my business somewhere else :-) It's business so I totally understand how it works.
