anybody having any issues with 08 cvo road king front brake with abs ? got mine in to dealer and they thought it was warped rotors ,didnt fix it and now harley tech line is telling them the wheel is bad.
I just took mine in for a vibration when I applied the front brake. They said both front rotors were warped and the fork bearing needed to be adjusted. The rotors were warranted but not the new pads they put on.
I have not put enough miles on since to tell if they fixed the problem. I was told not to hit the front brake very hard for for the first 50 to 100 Miles. I will probably find out tommorow. Not happy to hear you mention the front wheel. Seems like one thing after another.
I experienced the same on my 08 serk. I have 8000 mi on it now and the front tire is shot. The center is cupped down to the bottom of the tread. I've been very fussy about tire pressures but that's what all the dealers tell me is what caused it. I hadn't noticed any pulsation the first 5000 mi but after that it's been getting worse. I'm going in for new tires in a couple weeks and will see they wear any better. JN
I had a cupped front tire at 9300 miles. I was told it was because of running it under inflated. Not the case. I don't have the vibration now after new rotors, pads and tires. Of course I was not told it could possibly be a problem with the wheel at the time of all this work. (last week) I know now and will keep an eye on it. THX
update on my rk ,my dealer route 66 in tulsa ok has mine and another rk with the same problem,it is not the rotors, dealer service tech says its the wheels are out of round, harley has sent them 2 front wheels and it is still having vibe problems.they think the wheels are all warped coming out of harley.they have had mine for 25 days and they dont think it will be fixed anytime soon! after motor problem(110 ci rear head gasket and sleeve speration from jug) i am thinking its a lemon bike.i have a 2009 road glide cvo with 2900 miles on it and its the best riding, handling bike i have ever owned, and i have owned a 2002 road glide and put 65,000 miles on it then bought the 08 se road king.so if any harley execs are reading this you need to fix your 08 se road kings!
How ya coming with the fix on your RK ? I've not gotten an ans. on mine, Does the dealer know if the wheels are bad or did they just try that? It's about riding time in S.D. and I'd like to get new tires on and get going. Thanks JN
After all these months... guys did you get your problems solved?
My 2008 SERK breaks were working very well in beginning and enjoyed the power of breaking with slight touch of them. Then they started pulsating really badly. Braking down from high speed there is no power and they keep on releasing (it is not ABS typical rattle). Coming to a stop at traffic lights pulsating is so strong that front suspension is bumping up and down.
All started between 6 - 7 00 miles. Local dealer "fixed" the problem at 8 000 service or that's what they thought. Now taking it back for 10 000 service and leave it there till breaks are safe.
My 08 Police Roadking started the herky jerks( just before coming to a stop) at less than 10,000 miles. I put a dial indicator on the rotors and found the right one at .004 runout and the left one at .002 . Harley specs allow .008 . It was starting to jerk so bad that the front forks would pogo up and down . I talked the dealer into warranting the one rotor and then I bought a pair of H-D floating rotors. That did the trick for about 6000 miles. Now it's back worse than ever, even at high speeds I can feel it in the lever. I have 33,000+ miles on the bike now and I just put on both sets of front pads. They still had about 60% of the lining but I was grasping at straws. It didn't help. It's hard to keep your balance when coming to a stop without looking like a novice, especially with a passenger on board. Anyone have a clue ?
