Ok guys, I have a 2008 screamin eagle springer. I love it, it is an awesome scooter. The only thing I really don't like is the fact that I have no way to carry anything on the bike. It is just not made to add bags and racks in my opinion. To each his own. I also don't want to screw the paint job up by strapping things to the bike. So, I went and bought a 2009 ultra classic. Now I have room to carry everything......But it is not as fun as the springer. Don't get me wrong the ultra is a great bike but I like the springer much more. The ultra is good in many ways. I have plenty of storage, radio/cd player, cruise, windshield, am able to haul my lady friend around with me, etc. However, I always wish I was on the springer. The ultra will be good for the long trips we have planned but I know when I get there that I will wish I was on the springer. Maybe I need to teach her to ride the ultra and I can go on the springer......That way we can haul everything we need and I will still be in "Hog Heaven" You guys ever see women riding dressers?
I have the quick detachable back rest on my FXDSE and I got a leather bag off of ebay that goes over the backrest, either way (forward or backwards, since I mainly ride solo the bag sits on the passenger pad.
Like Dope Man 21 I too bought a detach sissy bar (very short) and rack...10 seconds and it is off. My scoot is a 2008 with the Rootbeer brown and gold and black paint...I found someone to make a brown leather bag for the back and even one for the front fork. The detach unit costs about $600..cheaper if you want to do it yourself but you may have 1-2 hours of work...a lot easier for the shop to do. I NEVER put anyone on the back. I also bought a Stripper seat for the bike, so very comfy on long rides and it hugs the contour of the bike...HD should have soldl it with that seat on it...FXDSE2
Went to visit friends in Texas this weekend. My lady friend and I rode the ultra. My oldest son rode the springer. That worked out good because I had both bikes there. Was able to haul everything I needed and still got to cruise around on the springer. Just won't be able to do that everytime I get away.
