If you are just doing pipes & air cleaner, consider a remap/tune. I'd not waste money on any tuner until you do a little more. Also, warranty is not worth crap on a motor, once it's broken in successfully, there's little that can go wrong with it. If it did, you'd probably only get 'parts only' and probably not the 'parts' you want to go back with anyway. I have a T-Max w/frequently tweaked autotoune. Still eats TTS & SEST bikes with more spent than I, so it works for me. JMHO
I had one on my '07 FXSTSSE...
don't waste your money on it.
I removed the ThunderMax and bought the TTS MasterTune, felt an improvement in power and throttle response immedately...
did the Vtune procedure and the bike felt way better than it ever did!
I removed it because the ThunderMax has an issue with "bliping" the throttle, it would intermittently pop throught the intake, sometimes stalling the bike... it's a limitation of the Alpha-N software that they use.
went back to the HD ECM and loaded the TTS base MAP into the factory computer and saw an immediate improvement..
I have the thundermax ECM on my Night Train and Zippers Performance is testing their new ECM (for the 2011-12 FLSTSE2 CVO Softail Convertible) on my CVO. Its a great product.
Just to follow up. I have my Bike back from zippers with the completed production ECM for the CVO Softail Convertible. They installed it along with D&D exhaust. It runs flawlessly. Better throttle response and power throughout the RPM range. 2 time satisfied customer.
