2012 CVO Streetglide , around the fender of the CVO is the plastic skirting that is below the fender and runs up the sides were the signal lights are inserted ! apparently I must have had a rock come off the tire and hit hard enough to ding the skirting enough to cause the paint to crack & peel. Not sure why harley uses plastic around fenders..? Harley has not given word on the warranty yet ! Questionable .?
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.?
No issues with rock chips yet, but I've got a problem with paint bubbles forming on the bottom portion of the fender under the license plate. I noticed them a couple months ago but forgot to point them out to the dealer the last couple times I was there with the bike. If they tell me it's normal, I'll be really pissed.
The reason I tried for warranty is the rock hit the inside of the fender skirting not the outside ! Never ask never get ! o-well it was worth a shot !!!!
I was at the dealer last week for the paint bubbling. Service guy said they need to photograph the problem and get approval to make a warranty claim. I took the bike in this week and they photographed the area, and ordered the replacement part right then. Of course, getting the new painted part might take a while, but there was no humming and hawing over the problem. Pretty good service. I'm thinking of installing the smoke turn signals when the new fascia is installed but they are over $600 in Canada so I'll have to ponder this.
