i have a stock 1979 shovelhead the heads are completely factory stock original guides and valves the bike had low miles on it and it sat awhile.i got the heads cleaned up valves and seats reground and lapped in. i also had valve seals installed on the intakes only i was told that they suck more oil than the exhaust .the valve stem to guide fit was good no signs of wear. my question is that can you use valve seals on stock factory parts valves of that year by the way the motor is an 80 cubic . thanks mike..
we use valve seals on every thing today all the way back to the mid 30s on both intake and exhaust
reason the oil today does not mix well with the garbage fuel we are all buying - so sealing the valves with seals, the antique machines and adding I like lucas 2 stroke oil to the gas, couple oz a tank full keeps the motor very clean, and the top end overhauls go from 5000 miles 30s and 40 machines to 20,000 miles
^^^^^^ You learn something new everyday....two stroke oil doesn't make it smoke? Does it change A/F mixture or Idle? Good for Shovelhead? Thanks....
On a 3 gallon tank it's only a ratio of 192:1. Where most two stroke motors today require 50:1 so I don't think your gonna notice any change in AFR's or smoking....
John? Would that be good for hi compression Evo's?
my son owns a factory 2 stroke race bike that has 14 to one compression stock - klotz - lucas and many dealer race 2 stroke oil not only works well but keeps the combustion chamber clean of deposits
yes to the question on shovel - I have used that in everything 2 stroke oil - also marvel mistry oil - also they - startron makes a enzyme that converts the alky in the fuel we are buying to a burnable product and increases the octane, it works so well my copy of the 1998 national championship road race motor we did in my buell no longer vibrates at hi way cruising speed

Well by us Marvel Mystery Oil is readily available, a couple of ounces in each fill up is easy insurance to keep the top end all clean.
John do you like it in the Evo/Twin Cam bikes as well or vintage only? Using the same shitty gas in all the bikes unfortunately.
the 2 stroke racing stuff it the ***** when it comes to keeping the engine in top shape - i have lots of weed wacking to do at my place and that thing is wide open for a couple hours for years on end and it cant wait till i start it to do it again
