Is any one gasket manufacturer better than another? I'm planning to order a primary gasket to replace the current one, which leaks slightly at the bottom rear.
Also, any favorite gasket sealants? I know it's a Shovel, but I'd sure like to stop the leak.
If I'm just pulling the cover, do I only need the individual primary cover gasket?
Looks like there are Cometic primary kits with multiple gaskets and seals for $70 at JP Cycle. Cometic has the individual gasket at $33 on their site. If I need to consider any other gaskets when I pull the cover, I may as well go for the kit.

to add to that we keep all of our gaskets in freezer zip lock bags to keep them as fresh as possible - bigger bags like a primary some come in re sealable bags
you can write on the plastic bag the OEM part number and what it fits
yamabond # 4 is all we use semi hardening and works on threads < best ever used
Loctite ultra gray the black one they sell is a adhesive type also a must have
gaskets / o ring threads - and worn out shafts like a farm tractor you can fill the back of a seal the spring lip let it dry 2 days it will seal a groove and not leak again as it make the seal tighter on the shaft
