Hey guys.
Look what followed me home. I happened to look at Craigslist 5 minutes after the guy posted for sale ad. I ran out of my office and drove to his house. According to the owner, he got a DUI years ago and the bike sat on his indoor porch. I gave him his asking price of $2,000 and we dug it out and loaded it up. It appears to be fairly complete but missing most of the controls. I got a wiring harness and battery for it and will check ignition setup. I'm going to check engine health and if needed, bring it to johnjzjz who did an awesome job with the engine from my 79 ElectraGlide.
This is the first shovelhead I've had with a S&S Super B. Thoughts?
Happy Thanksgiving.
Nick
s&s-b a great carby. my 80 lowrider starts first button press
looks great , and i'm sure it runs like a Swiss watch ! engine , tranny and maybe the frame are 81 FXS , everything else is like that Johnny Cash song !
when i had forwards on my 80 lowrider the shifter and shaft wernt splined .just round and the shifter never came loose
Since the LowRider was Not originally equipped with Forward Controls, I am going to Submit that either you had Imported parts, or, Earlier...as I have Not noticed Smooth Shaft controls since the Early '70's
@Nick Sorgio Nothing wrong with a "B" except I never could operate forward Controls with one.. Basically like any S&S carb, but, No Squirter.
No Throttle Jockeys with no Squirter... You learn to "roll into it" or accelerate starting at a Higher RPM... it was In Fact planned as a Racing Carb..
Certainly use a K&N filter and Go..

That's funny. There isn't much of the FXS left and it has a bit of an identify crisis. Now that I have a working bike I can ride, I'll be looking to make some changes over time to get the styling I want.

looking forward to seeing where you take this bike on it's new journey
