over the years that type of spot and blinker holder design was changed, because you could not stop the assemblies from walking around while riding
I have seen many home ideas and screws is one of them , but some of those the wire ran inside the tube to the center for an exit and the sharp screws made sure it was shorted
the flat tab bracket that holds them in place has a detent for a set screw and that was Harleys idea to keep them from turning - it didn't work well
we have this glue I found that is clear and it hardens only 1/2 way and even applied thin it does the job - holds wires in place under fenders kind of thing and much more
I have in past used the urethane used on new car windshield to work well on clean under fenders for wires. But its black.
can you say what you use John. I keep 15-20 of these new tabs in stock. Mostly just adjust ***** punch thru hole and drill indent into bar. Use longer allen screw...Cut thin brass shim stock for between tab and bar on underside. But those lights are heavy and bounce a lot. Think gluing would be best. As always many ways to skin the........oh crap he is sitting here watching me
Yep....not taking anymore apart....well one cowbell has a ding. While its off may as well service fork tubes. But front wheel bearing should be repacked. Well half hour more could just do neck bearings......lmao. Just a parts chaser...just a parts chaser...guess what happens at 4am bored. Maybe polish lower legs lol
While i was doing neck bearing i remember a few guys having trouble doing them with out special tools. I have the tool to pull races out of the necks.....never bother. I keep,a stack of these washers in bolt cabinet. Weld washer into race tap lightly when its still warm and races fall out. I have seen some butcher jobs on bikes guys using ng the famous dremel...yikes. Just did a 2013 cvo that a guy made a mess out of....10 min done and it on his way. If this helped one guy good..
Thought of a funny expert telling of how DANGEROUS PB blaster and propane was on a newbbe post...lmfao. Map gas on broken fender bolt in lower leg wouldnt inginite the stuff.( stinks like hell) Another trick.....i havent used and easy out in 30-40 years. Weld a nut on broken bolt soak in pb blaster....heat. Work it back and forth. Doesnt work first time let cool do it again. Works great on exhaust studs also. This works even if bolt is broken in deep. Oh well just couple things or tricks may or may not know i use on 1950s to 2013s Oh and no paint is harmed lol

Oh and the best part....bearing are just trailer wheelbearing and at your local tractor supply...12 bucks for the whole kit for a trailer. Toss the rest of the crap... a need for the dealer...
ok this is the glue that is a go to for us in the shop -
what the directions say is totally untrue - it does not come off easy but it sticks to anything and gets hard but flexible - I love this stuff - wait to you get it on your fingers to see its attitude

Thanks ...ill make sure and get jt in my fingers...just for u! Lol
2 things i learned working on guns and motorcycles . Some people should not own dremels or drills....WTF the PO was doing to these passing lamp brackets i have no idea. U think after the first sheet metal screw didnt work he would have firgured another way. Guess i should be glad he didnt have and arc welder ...lmao. Put a collar on for heat sink and tried to save chrome...solid aluimn bar in middle so no sharp welds screwing up holes for wire....run a same size drill through after...good as new. If this crap is boring just tell me to STFU.......i have been helped so much in past...just sharing how i fix stuff i cant buy.
Hey can you post up some pics of before and after on this upgrade? What is holding it in place now? I have the same problem, my left side light bounces all over, and I have 2, not 1 but 2 rivets that appear to be holding it from rotating, only being somewhat effective. Not something I am looking to fix today, but on my list to get straightened out. I had no idea this was a common thing. Thanks.
I have always simply drill and tap the "clamp" then once in place and clamped... I put a Drill "dimple" at the tapped location...inserting a Set screw...such that the "set" taper enters the "dimple"... Done...
