When I put my shovel together I used the only petcock available(accel?) and for it to fit, had to install an adapter between the tank and valve. It placed the fuel standpipe just above the bottom of the tank when installed. Reserve gave me about 3 miles to empty. One push to a gas station was enough. 5 gallon tanks never got too low after that. Super E can be pretty thrifty on fuel if adjusted properly.
okay so I bought the accel for $75
put it in what a mother ****er
the plastic threaded piece has to go all the way down the threads of the petock
did it but really have to play with it
the stand pipe is high up in my 5 gal fatbobs great
and the reserve should be good
but the install oh man gas is seeping down from the threads
I keep tightening the petcock and the and the nut on the tank
it stayed dry all day yesterday
but went in the garage this morning soaked with gas seeping down very little but enough to be a problem
has to be dryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
liked the $75 petcock instead of $150 ****in pingel what a joke
accel is a china petcock - they farmed out the entire company years ago for profits - the box the junk come in is made in the USA or lately I seen one that the box was assembled in the USA
and I read you were recommended to buy a pingle - you will finally get to that spot but it will cost twice a much

I had the same problem with my chopper because of the shape and angle of the tank. I put a length of hose on the stand pipe and now there's half a gallon of reserve or more. I just have to use an external filter.
returned that piece of junk accel petcock
reinstalled stock type petcock pulled out stock fuel pipe
made a new pipe out of stainless 1/4 inch
sized it sanded it fit it nice 2 inch length pipe
should have decent reserve time
