Having owned my FXRS since Showroom New...I am accustomed to a Tall Motorbike. I do own one that I set up sort of for Rodeo Games... Turns out, lowering the Front, not only improves low speed handling (reduced Trail) but... is much more comfortable than a Lowered Rear..and, Lowering the Rear is Not for Handling...Only Looks
I have done similar. I have raised the rear of my Sportsters using the 13.25" shocks for ground clearance when cornering as they drag quick. Side benefit is a quicker turning Sporty that turns slow anyway. And I raised the rear of my Street Glide also with longer shocks, but for more travel & bump absorption (comfort).
I kind of push my bikes, but this Shovelhead will just be a set it at 70 breakfast/lunch ride bike. Usually not over 100 miles each way. But my back may be screaming for stock height... we'll see.
Just to throw another picture in there. Same point of build as the last pic.
The raw pipe looks really good IMO ...the header pipes look killer. But too much silver for the bike.
So black exhaust, black dash console and handlebars. Black tail light housing also. Unassuming exhaust. Trying to have the bike look like a 'base model', not a CVO-ish bling model. A lot of chrome on a bike for me, but the black/chrome/aluminum mix ought to serve well.
Workin' mans ride.
RP, the exhaust is from GasBox. Generally considered better quality & fitment than Paughco.
Should be semi quiet too, so as to slide into town and not attract too much attention.
I say leave the pipe silver and show off the workmanship. The motor and it's parts should be the center of attention in a motor-cycle. Keep the motor, transmission and exhaust monocromatic silver, frame it with the rest of the bike being black, and you have a perfect design.
Thanks Mongo.
I hear ya Joe... The plan has been a black exhaust - its quite probably getting ceramic coated now. The motor, trans, primary & fork tins ought to give it a lot.
Unassuming is a word I keep using...
Nope...No Jet Hot, nor anything else Inside my Pipes!!!
BTDT caused some terrible problems with a build that apparently had too much (valve) overlap or some such...According to their experts...All I know is, ...Ruined an engine!!
