I prefer OEM engines. I had an S&S evo 98" in a bagger which was fun then I sold it. Sounded great but the reality was with all that noise and impressive looks, my friends bone stock low rider ST would destroy me. It opened my eyes and made me instantly realize I was wasting my time messing around trying to make an old design perform. I equate it to working with a flathead ford hoping to beat the Ford Voodoo engine. I think there was a time when the S&S engines made sense when everything was slow but not anymore. Life is simpler when you accept something for what it is.

Absolutely. Never understood the mind set of trying to make something into something else that it was never designed to be but to each his own.

Oh there's a certain symmetry to taking what is and letting that inner thing that moves some of us out to play to see what it can be, down side is it can be quite addicting. With a shovel you just know there's so much more to work with there than what they gave us.

i think its the challenge in making something ordinary into something exceptional...... or the ''it cant be done '' challenge, which i enjoy looking at what others have done to their ride. its also very easy to tune a motor and end up making it slower
