Default '71 super glide starter conversion qustion

Any idea if there is an electrict start/kick start conversion available for a '71 fx super glide? IF so how involved of a project would it be?

Thanks,
Roach

Are you wanting to install a kick start on your 4 speed trans? If so sure!
I have installed several, kits come complete from V Twin and others I would guess {I buy all from V twin or Harley}. sometimes the rear pipe can be an issue other than that don't see why you couldn't do this in an afternoon once you have the parts.

If your talking about putting an electric starter on your bike, it's easy. All it takes is a big pile of money. You need the starter, starter housing, jackshaft and bendix gear, solenoid, relay, battery, battery tray and cover, mounting hardware, wiring, and your clutch hub may or may not need the ring gear, and I might have left outa few things.

Yes and any of the after market primary's I have tried to use were UN usable chromed JUNK.
The electric start kits I have installed are pretty complete {less battery}.

I have had some luck with the offshore stuff but you are right, have to be careful. Chrome doesn't stay on very long either.

As for the primary cover, if yours doesn't have the needle bearing for the bendix gear, any competent machinist could size the existing hole and install one. So you can keep your stock cover.
