cj,
So it was the battery.
I have a #6 gauge ground wire from my starter to the frame.
That's good news it is pulling less amperage.
Are you saying your are thinking of sending your second AB starter back to have it checked out by them? Or are you not going to send it since the starter is working okay now.

Well in time for next year, Americade is always in the first
full week in June a few weeks ago it came down too out of time
a few posts ago I had to re-send back to A-B s the starter drive
cap to add two more holes, I think that was a tursday with simple
math ran out of time could never be turn around and ship back
to me in a day or two turn-around.

I was spending approx a month on this and I guess that was the line
so I called a few friends I meet up there and told them and they said
F. I. drive up ! So I did I drove my car to so called bike week : - )))

As they said hay it’s not like we are going to find new roads to ride up
there : - )), they were right, all these years going up to that area
we are talking up to 20 some years for most, yeah it’s the riding up
there but it is not all of it, friends from different states catching up or news
and stuff going out to dinner, walking around the town at night the vendor area,
let alone the classic standing around ones friends bike noticing what has
been done that past year : - )))

I don’t except maybe some twenty year old rider to understand that but a
few of the people with miles / years under them may : - ))

No I just went up parked my car in the back of the motel and dress the roll :- )
Didn’t even get rag on, people knew I wanted to ride up there, but you got
to go no matter what I guess.

Hay, I wanted to tell you something catch out my last post or how the AMPs
are cut down under two hundred by putting that extra ground strap on the
starter ?? man I am glad that happen, let me tell you because this is like
e-mail and IMO e-mail sucks for anything besides Hay, hi, yeah right etc..

I hope you understand I wasn’t wearing that 224 / 236 AMP draw as some
kind of badge of honor or something ? hell no I know what high AMPs does
it puts the heartaches on ones battery !! who the hell would want that ???

No I am very happy it’s down to the mid 180 to 190’s less bs for the battery
should last longer, chances of leaving ones a$$ along the side of the road
is less, I am happy its under two !!!!

In fact I am sending A-Bs that info, hay put that option in your instructions !
Damn, maybe it’s already in there, I didn’t read them : - ))) hay I should read
them before I send it, maybe it’s in there ? : - ))))

Ride safe,

cj

Hay you already put a 6 ga on it, your thinking man !!
I just want to make sure it works by them, after all
I just spent for a new one, I will just use this first one
as a spare, and hope I will never need it : - ))

take care,

cj

Edit:

I just wanted to make sure I was clear on that, I did buy a new A-B’s starter it’s in
the bike and working, my first A-B’s starter I took out when I was trying anything to
make that m/c trip, the original A-B’s starter wasn’t burnt or smelly or did it have any problem with spinning freely, by having it check out it just closes the door on ever using it again.

I can’t tell you how this new battery and the additional starter ground strap has it starting better than anytime in it’s life.

I just sent that person at Odyssey battery an e-mail telling that the battery was the problem starting the bike can’t wait till I get a reply, it’s 2 years old now both of them brought in June, the first one was two years ago, but been bitching about it since last year ?

take care,

cj

Edit 2

Look what I just got in they stand by their product !!!

Good Afternoon John,

I think, based on our previous correspondence, that the battery is “bad” and cannot be salvaged. We do not need to waste money shipping the battery back and forth. The best I can offer to do is authorize replacement under warranty since we are not set up to refund the cost of the new battery you purchased. If you do not need that particular ODYSSEY battery model then I can offer you another comparable sized ODYSSEY battery for another application if you are in need of such. I would have offered you a charger for your trouble but it seems you already have one.
Let me know what you think and we will see what we can do from here.

Thanks again for your patience. I await your response. Please have a wonderful afternoon.
