That's a creative idea biginch, but I'll probably go with the Cycle Shack or Paugchos. You have more tolerance for loud than I do. I'll think about the Siftons, but I may decide to go back to hydraulic. I'm trying to get this bike in shape so it'll require as little maintenance as possible (I know, shovels do require some regularly) because I have 3 classic cars to restore. I've had one in my garage ready to paint for 2 months. Between home repairs and car repairs (I do all my own work on our family's 3 daily drivers), I haven't been able to get to it.

Yeah, I question the worth of solids in a otherwise stock motor anyway.

If he changes to hydraulics, won't he have to change pushrods also? Those look like they would be to short for hyraulics unless Shovel hydraulics are adjustable like the solids. I really don't know cause I am only up on old Iron Head Sportsters and EVO's. At least he would not have to cut the pushrods out.

Your right he would have to find good used or buy new hydraulic inserts for the lifters , stock or a compatible set of pushrods and pull the lifter blocks and make sure the oil holes are lined up correctly to run hyd. lifters again . It's common practice when you put in solids to turn the lifters 180 deg. in the blocks so the oil feed hole doesn't flood the tubes . Forget to do this your hydraulics won't work .

OK, using the info I've gotten here, I've put together a list of parts. Let me know what you think of this combo:

http://shop.velvatouchlifters.com/SH...ITY-BKSHOV.htm

http://www.compperformancegroupstore...ode=SPRINGKITS

http://www.compperformancegroupstore...ode=SVLHEADCAM

http://www.cycle-shack.com/cycle/ago...PHD-122T&xm=on

Any guesstimates about what kind of HP/Torque numbers this would give me?

I'm also wondering about the "EVO Cam/EVO Oiling" Velva-Touch lifters. I assume this means you have to use an EVO cam with them? Is there an advantage to doing that? Was the EVO oiling to the lifters/top end better, so they've adapted it to shovels? I'm wondering because they have some blems that could save a few bucks.

Try Jerih cycles they are a bunch cheaper .

http://www.jirehcycles.com/

Haven't tried those springs so can't say but I've been using the Andrew high lift springs & collars with good results and no failures and the Crane kits . Those Beehive single springs I donno didn't see anything about fitting shovels .

Cam wise that one or the SH-4040 , run them both in machines now .

Numbers don't mean much but bragging rights , what it will give you is a better pulling bike particularly when riding two up or geared up for a trip . Best part is quiet the motor isn't rattling all the time .

Can't say with the Velva touch I've alway ran the Jims or S&S lifters but I hear they are ok and work .

OK thanks. I'll check with Comp before I buy and get their spring recommendation for the cam. I'll also check out Jireh Cycles. I've seen them recommended by some other folks too.
