Well once again i find another problem. Can not get the intake to seal to the heads. I have the o-ring style intake s&s super e. I have tried evrything except pulling the heads and realigning. This was all suppose to be done by a "professional shop" before i bought it. Yea ok some backyard mechanic. Either way does anybody know of a better fix rather than pulling the heads? And if i pull the heads to put new gaskets on do i need any special tools? Hope some one has a good answer. Thank you! Would post a pic of the old girl but it keeps tellin me fike to big and i have no id how to make smaller. New to this site. There is alot of good info here. Ride on and be safe everyone!!!!!!!!
I use the flat bands on the "O" ring heads -- it requires you use the clamps for the bands -- tighten them slow to keep them in alignment -- mine have been on the bike for almost 5 years -- also you can ( buy on ebay) use silicone turbo hose cut to fit -- let me show ya -- next pic
I was trying to figure out what he was up to also. My problem is im sucking air were the intake manifold and head meet. If i put the manifold tight to the front i have a quarter inch gap in the rear. So i cant get a tight seal. I know if i loosen the head bolts at the bottom i will ruin the paper gaskets. So im guessin i have to pull the heads just to regasket n line the intake up wth the heads. So do not wnt to do that till winter. But also dont want to burn a valve suckin to much air. So frustrated at the moment.
2 FRONT HEADS GUYS --- im just showing that you can use silicone turbo hose and cut it to fit your intake -- as you know the bands are are little short -- you can buy the turbo hose on ebay --
Looks like you have your intake bolted to the head. Mine is just held by the bands to the head. Sorry maybe im not following the picture. Brother always said i wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed. Lol.
The S&S manifolds are a bitch to line up. Best way is to split the difference in the gap and alternate tightening the bands slowly.
Pulling the head isn't gonna do you any good, in fact it's just gonna do the exact same thing as soon as you tighten the head bolts down.
I had manifolds off and on 4 times before I got it to finally seal.
Call S&S and and talk with tech, they will run you through the procedure.
Pay close attention to the manifold gaps and make sure it's even when installing... This may sound like a stupid question but your not trying to install the manifold with the carb attached right?
