11-1 compression is not high enough to need 98 octane. It sounds like the tune is off and needs to have the timing dialed back this will allow you to run premium 93 octane. In addition to that if your tank was not venting correctly you could have had low fuel pressure issues. Harley's use a dead head fuel system which means the fuel pressure regulator is before the injectors so you may want to do a fuel pressure test to make sure you are getting 55-62 psi.
would that cause the dash to signal a flashing fuel pump light and constant on engine red light? And is it a bad thing to continue riding when these lights come on, even though it happens infrequently? Thanks!
Stal...11:1 is definitely high enough to run 98 as minmal here, even 10:5:1 here needs 98. There's a difference in our fuels man, your 92 is better then our 98. Fuel quality here is no where as good as in the states. Even though 98 octane should be 98, it's still inferior to the 92 in America.
Gnarly yeah it sucks man when you've put so much time into the paint!
Splatt the pump light sounds like fuel level sensor problem but with the engine light also that could be a number of things man I'd have that checked out asap.
Progress on the tank
New tailight, modified the old bracket, just needs to be PC now
How longs the ethanol been in? We have an ethanol blend but it's stated on the pumps that contain it so you have a choice.
Our 92 is only good for stock as a rock engines, even then I wouldn't put it in my stock 6 cylinder car, it's that rubbish
Been in since the gvernment decidd they were tired of paying american farmers subsidies for sittin on their asses.
So thy figured to have them grow corn for ethenol and finance their budget which has been in the toilet ever since the wars. That's pretty much it in a nut shell.
Ethenol free gas is $10 a gallon here

Doubtful. Have you done ANY rewiring of the turnsignal (or other) wires?
Reason I ask is because this exact issue happened to me and was a
direct result of me relocating the turnsignal connectors. Turns out my
soldiered splice hotwire was somehow grounding on either the frame or
the negative wire (short) but was not blowing any fuses (I have LEDs).
The turnsignal would not work and the gas light & red security light were on.
I assume the BCM was confused by the short & was turning on those lights.
I insulated the wires better, disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes & everything cleared up.
WKNDS, thanks very much for your intrest in helping me out. And I'm intrested in persuing it further if your willing since there are a couple more things that may have added to the issue. But if its okay, might be better through private messaging so that I dont end up cluttering Ink's awesome thread.
